Dr. Theodora Barkoula graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2004, and completed the specialty in Neurology at the tertiary General Oncology Hospital “Agioi Anargyroi” in Athens. During her residency she specialised in Multiple Sclerosis and Neurophysiological examination and gained extensive clinical experience in immunomodulatory and disease-modifying therapies. She has also received specialisation in Medical Acupuncture at the International Postgraduate Centre for Acupuncture – AcuScience of Athens after a 2-year study program. Subsequently, she completed her studies with an overall grade of “Excellent” in a two-year Master’s Program (MSc) in “Analgesia and Pain Management with Pharmaceutical, Interventional and Other Techniques” of Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Barkoula was appointed as a Consultant, from 2016 to 2021, at the Neurophysiology Laboratory of the General Oncology Hospital “Agioi Anargyroi” of Athens, while from 2021 to 2022 she was appointed as a Consultant with a special interest in Neurophysiology at Limassol General Hospital. Since 2022, she maintains a practice and works as a private doctor in Limassol. The doctor has developed special interest in the management of pain and headache with further specialisation in the use of Botulinum toxin Type A (botox, xeomin etc.) for the management of migraine, and presents significant scientific activity with announcements and publications in reputable academic journals. She has participated as an investigator in several Multi- Center Trials in Multiple Sclerosis and Migraine and her areas of expertise include Pain Management and Migraine, Multiple Sclerosis, Peripheral Neuropathies, Myopathies and Neurophysiological evaluation. Her educational work is framed by her active participation as a speaker at International and Domestic Conferences, but also by her contribution to the Educational Program of the University of Nicosia Medical School students as a Clinical Associate. She is a member of the Hellenic and European Headache Society since 2018, the Hellenic Neurological Society since 2018, the Hellenic Medical Acupuncture Society since 2016 and the Cyprus Neurological Society since 2021.
