Dr. Evita (Paraskevi) Fragkou
Dr. Evita (Paraskevi) Fragkou MD, MSc, MRCP, PhD is a Consultant in Internal Medicine with extensive clinical, academic, and research experience in Greece and the United Kingdom, with a special interest in infectious diseases. She graduated with highest honors from the University of Patras School of Medicine and completed her MSc in Internal Medicine with Distinction at the University of Edinburgh. She also holds a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), focusing on HIV infection. Her doctoral research was funded by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) and was awarded by the Hellenic Society for the Study and Control of AIDS.
She completed her specialty training in Internal Medicine at leading hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom. Between 2021 and 2024, she served as Consultant in Internal Medicine at the 1st Department of Critical Care and Pulmonology of Evangelismos General Hospital, NKUA. In 2026, she was elected President of the Scientific Committee of the Respiratory Viruses Study Group of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and actively contributes to European expert panels developing clinical guidelines on COVID-19 diagnosis, multidrug-resistant Gram-negative infections, and antimicrobial therapy in patients with renal impairment.
Dr. Fragkou has participated in more than 30 research projects and has authored over 60 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, with more than 3,000 citations and an h-index of 26. Since 2015, she has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and serves as a reviewer and editor for international scientific journals.
