Dr. Michalis Ayiomamitis
Dr. Michalis Ayiomamitis, MBBS, MD, CTh, is a specialist Cardiac Surgeon and Director of the Cardiac Surgery Unit at the German Medical Institute in Limassol. Born in Limassol, he studied Medicine at the University of Perugia, Italy, on a full six-year Italian government scholarship, graduating with distinctions. He completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery specialty at “San Matteo” University Hospital in Pavia — one of Italy’s largest hospitals — achieving the position of Chief Resident and obtaining two subspecialties: minimally invasive aortic valve surgery and heart transplant. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery at St George’s University Hospital in London and served as Senior Specialty Doctor and Lead of Trust Appointed Doctors at Hull and East Yorkshire University Hospital, UK. He is a founder member of the Cypriot Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (CSCTS) and holds GMC-UK Specialist Register accreditation in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
