Dr. Iakovos Georgiou
Dr. Iakovos Georgiou is a Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon and Head of Plastic Surgery at the German Medical Institute in Limassol. He completed his medical studies at Charles University in Prague and his surgical training in Germany, including basic surgery at Hannover Medical School and specialist residency in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann in Potsdam, under the mentorship of Ass. Prof. Ghods. His special areas of expertise include reconstructive microsurgery, lipedema diagnosis and surgical management, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, body contouring, post-bariatric surgery skin excess removal, burn injury treatment, and skin tumour surgery. He is a keynote speaker at international conferences and has 12 peer-reviewed publications. He also co-established a humanitarian plastic surgery mission programme in São Tomé and Príncipe, West Africa. He returned to Cyprus in 2023 to lead the Plastic Surgery Department at GMI.
