Dr. Andreas Georgiou is an accomplished Pulmonologist – Tuberculosis Specialist with many years of clinical experience and high scientific training. Major Achievements
- Founder of modern pulmonology in Cyprus and creator of pulmonology clinics nationwide.
- Creator of the first nationwide bronchoscopic laboratory in the public sector in 1993 with the introduction of (a) the flexible bronchoscope for the performance of bronchoscopies, for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases and (b) the Abrams and Copes needles for the performance of pleural biopsies.
- Συγγραφέας του καταστατικού της Κυπριακής Πνευμονολογικής Εταιρείας το 1993, αδελφοποίηση με την Ελληνική Πνευμονολογική Εταιρεία το 2009 και προεδρία του πρώτου Κυπρο-Ελληνικού Συνεδρίου στη Λευκωσία στις 18-20 Μαρτίου 2010.
- An important achievement was the conclusion of an agreement between the Ministry of Health and the thoracic surgery clinic of the University Hospital of Vienna (AKH) for lung transplants. The agreement was signed in 1997 and since then lung transplants of Cypriot patients with end-stage lung diseases have been carried out in Vienna.
- Organizer of the pulmonary rehabilitation program for COPD patients that started its operation for the first time at the lung clinic of the General Hospital of Greece on 9/11/2009 as well as the bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease schools.
- On his initiative, the association of lung patients was founded in 2011.

Dr. Andreas Georgiou provides comprehensive medical services to patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases, utilizing his clinical experience and the latest developments in pulmonology. His services include:
- Measurement of respiratory function (spirometry: the most common test to check lung function).
- Diagnosis of sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea syndrome.To screen patients who may have sleep apnea syndrome, use the screening device.
- Allergic skin tests. Skin reactions by touch, known as skin tests, are the main diagnostic tool for allergic diseases.
- Perform Mantoux dermatology which is a valuable diagnostic tool for TB.

- He graduated from the Pancyprian Gymnasium of Kykkos Arenas in 1975 with a grade of “A”.
- Graduate of the Medical School of University of Rome in 1984 with the degree of Honours
- Specialization in Pulmonology and Tuberculosis at the Athens Hospital of Chest Diseases 1985-1989
- Obtaining a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in University of Athens 12/5/2006.
- Training in distinguished centres abroad in therapeutic bronchoscopy (Laser, brachytherapy, autofluorescence) for the treatment of patients with lung diseases.

- With many years of clinical experience, Dr. Andreas Georgiou has distinguished himself in positions of responsibility:
- Private Pulmonologist, contracted with the GHS from 2020
- Director Pulmonology – Tuberculosis at Nicosia General Hospital for 13 years.
- Assumption of duties as Assistant Director of Pulmonology – Tuberculosis (2001).
- Attending physician at the Pulmonology Clinic of the Nicosia General Hospital (1989)

- Dr. Andreas Georgiou has an active scientific activity, participating in internationally renowned conferences. He has a rich research work in the field of Pulmonology with numerous publications in international medical journals.
- The Pulmonology Clinic of the General Hospital of Greece, under the direction of Mr. Georgiou, conducted during 2008-2009 pioneering epidemiological studies in the National Guard regarding smoking habit, bronchial asthma and the determination of the tuberculosis infection index which was low < 5%,and did not justify the chest X-ray examination that all new recruits had been undergoing for decades, resulting in its discontinuation. He also conducted epidemiological studies nationwide on the prevalence of Bronchial Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which led to the award of PhD degrees.
