Dr. Panagiotis Koudounis
Dr. Panagiotis Koudounis, MD, MSc, MRCP is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist specializing in interventional electrophysiology, catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias, and the implantation and follow-up of cardiac implantable electronic devices. He has a particular interest in the integration of advanced cardiovascular imaging into the diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias. He graduated from the University of Ioannina School of Medicine and completed his cardiology and electrophysiology training at leading institutions in Greece and the United Kingdom, including Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Hellenic Red Cross Hospital – Korgialenio Benakio.
In 2019, he completed a fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology awarded by the Hellenic Society of Cardiology. Since 1/2026, he has been Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center of Athens Medical Group and Director of the Cardiology Center at Athens Medical Center – Palaio Faliro. He holds the European Diploma in Cardiology, is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK), an EHRA Certified Cardiac Device Specialist, and is certified by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) in both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. Since 2015, he has also served as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor.
Dr. Koudounis has authored publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals, serves as a reviewer for leading international scientific journals, is a regular invited speaker at international congresses, and has contributed to medical textbooks. In 2024, he was elected to the Board of the Working Group on Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiac Pacing of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology.
