Dr. Valentinos Kounnis
Dr. Valentinos Kounnis is the Director of the Medical Oncology Department at the German Oncology Center in Limassol and a Consultant Medical Oncologist with extensive international experience, including a senior Consultant post at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust — one of the UK’s leading cancer centres. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, London) and holds dual postgraduate degrees: a PhD in molecular oncology from the University of Ioannina in collaboration with the Oxford University Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, and an MSc in Molecular Pathology and Toxicology from the University of Leicester (funded by Cancer Research UK). His clinical expertise spans gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers, with special focus on colorectal and prostate malignancies, integrating chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and targeted treatments. A founding member of the Interscience Molecular Oncology Laboratory (iMOL) and the University of Ioannina Cancer Biobank Centre (UICBC), he has also served as Expert Advisor to NHS England’s Central and South Cancer Genomics Improvement Project.
